Civil Engineer (PE) Team Lead

This Engineer (PE) will be helping to protect public health by treating and reusing wastewater for irrigation at golf courses, hotels, hospitals, housing developments, and RV parks with a company that has been around for more than 40 years, and operating in 14 countries. They are one stop shop for everything septic.

On a regular basis, you will produce official site and soil evaluation reports from inspections by local county or state regulators. You get the opportunity to design onsite wastewater treatment systems (OWTS) and large-scale residential wastewater treatment systems (STEP) for both residential and commercial applications, keeping apprised of location regulations, and oncoming regulatory changes that are in development. 

You will lead and oversee the OWTS Engineering department, often interfacing, and collaborating with other OWTS Engineers in other teams throughout the United States. 

You will regularly interact with government inspectors, field technicians and project manager, as well as other Civil Engineers and building professionals such as architects and surveyors.

**North Bay Area/Sacramento Role will take place both in the “office” (you can work from home), preparing reports and OWTS plans, and also in the field, attending official inspections at jobsites**  

**DFW & South Carolina area role will have no site visits - this role will be remote design work, team leadership, and report writing**

 This role might be for you if you have the following:

Education: REHS, PE, CEG, or MA in a related field desirable.

  • 4+ years of field work in County or State level regulatory experience preferable

  • 1+ years of AUTOCAD desired

  • Track record of using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and drive decision-making

  • Have excellent communication skills (documentation, listening/reading/writing)

  • Metrics-driven: Strong analytical and synthesis skills are a must, including the ability to absorb and process large amounts of data into actionable information

  • You are self-motivated, detail oriented, energetic and service oriented

  • Identify local regulations and trends of the market

  • Communicate with regulators to ensure compliance

  • Conduct siting and OWTS layout or capable of developing this skill independent of direct SQP field supervision.

  • Understand and review soil evaluations and septic designs to submit to local regulators

Desired, but not required knowledge:

  • Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Installation, Operations, Maintenance

  • Proven results in OWTS Plan Review, Civil or Survey Plan review

  • Soil Field Texturing with COWA or NOWRA sponsored workshop/certification

  • Basic familiarity with a vast array of OWTS products, services and policies
