
Senior Technical Director of EHS Department (CIH)

If office space is desired the candidate can be based in the San Diego, LA, Oakland, or Sacramento offices full or hybrid schedule
About You:
We are looking for a self-starting, growth-oriented person with attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with the team. This person will be someone who likes working on multiple interesting projects simultaneously, enjoys mentoring, and recognizes the value in all levels of staff to help set them up for success.
The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience, with a minimum of two (2) years as a CIH.

We do extensive work in the construction realm, support hazardous material abatement at airports, large construction projects with major multinational construction companies, and work on large infrastructure projects, among others.
As a company some of the services we offer are in environmental, civil/structural/mechanical/electrical engineering, hazardous material response, and laboratory testing to private and public sectors.
What You Get To Do:
Collaborate with the team as the technical director and internal consultant/mentor for the EHS department. You will provide day to day technical direction/mentoring, review reports, help with proposal preparation, be involved in scope/budgeting, communicate technical information to clients in a way they will understand, review current internal safety programs/report templates and improve if needed.
You can work remotely from anywhere in California, however if you prefer to work in the office (FT or Hybrid) you can be based in the San Diego, LA, Oakland, or Sacramento office.
As part of this role, the successful individual will be able to:
Conducts complex investigations and on-site analysis to recognize, eliminate, and control occupational health hazards and diseases
Collects samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis
Investigates adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that may affect occupant health, comfort, or efficiency
Inspects and evaluates work operations and processes to determine potential contaminate emission sources or related health hazards associated with workplace conditions
Conducts investigations of working conditions in places of employment for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards, with specific reference to toxins, noise, or harmful physical agents
Measures airborne concentrations of dust, gases and mists using air sampling tools and collections devices
Collects samples of work materials to detect and evaluate occupant exposure to toxic substances
Determines effectiveness of engineering control methods and makes recommendations regarding location, design, structure, operations, and maintenance of contaminant and physical agent control systems
Interprets rules and regulations to officials of industry and others
Consults with management, engineers, and other agencies regarding industrial health problems and solutions
Examines, for approval, plans and specifications of proposed contaminant and physical agent control
Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence

Trains new staff members
Supports the organization's quality program(s)
Travels as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, biological sciences, or engineering with an emphasis on environmental health, industrial hygiene, physiology, toxicology or biology from an accredited college or university preferred
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
CAC or CSP a plus
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in industrial hygiene or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Minimum of two (2) years as a CIH
Skills & Knowledge
Knowledge of the principles of industrial hygiene and workplace hazards
Knowledge of scientific methods used in health hazard control
Knowledge of state and federal statutes concerning industrial hygiene and air pollution
Skilled in organization and interpretation of field data and in identifying necessary corrections
Ability to organize, assign and coordinate the work of others
Ability to set priorities

PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
